French that holds up
on exam day.
One-to-one tutoring for IGCSE and A Level French, with a native French teacher who spent eight years at Surbiton High School preparing students for their oral exams. Your child works on the exact papers they will sit, every week, and you receive a written report at the end of each term.

Selma El Yagoubi
I am a native French speaker and spent eight years at Surbiton High School in London, specialising in preparing students for the oral exam. I am an AS Level examiner and have marked GCSE and A Level mock exams, so I know the exam-board standards and the mark schemes from the inside, and how much the step up to A Level can unsettle even very able linguists.
I studied at Sorbonne University and worked at UNESCO before teaching. Today I teach one to one, online, which lets each lesson follow the student rather than the class.
- 8 years at Surbiton High School, oral exam specialist
- AS Level examiner
- GCSE and A Level mock examiner
- Sorbonne University graduate
- UNESCO experience

Parents and students, in their own words
“Selma tutored my three daughters in French from Year 7 all the way to Year 13. Their progress was steady and smooth, because Selma showed all her teaching and personal qualities. I recommend her without hesitation.”
“Selma is a friendly and dedicated tutor. After starting online tutoring with her, my son's French improved significantly. He went from being unsure about the subject to excelling in it: he's now at the top of his French class! At first, he didn't even want to take French, but thanks to Selma's engaging lessons, it has become one of his favourite subjects. I highly recommend her lessons to anyone looking to improve their French in a supportive and motivating environment!”
“Selma has been my favourite French tutor yet. She has helped me a lot with both my A Level French and French online school (CNED). Selma is very friendly, she explains things clearly so they are easily understandable, and has overall helped me develop my French so much. I couldn't recommend her enough.”
“Selma is very kind, I love her as my tutor. She is always understanding and has a great way of tutoring. I have learnt so much and furthered my understanding of French as a bilingual. Her way of teaching gets in my head much easier than my teachers at school, I won't even lie. Merci Selma!”
